Hello Friends,
It's time! The garden is in, growing, and ready to provide the first share of the season.
I apologize for my poor updates here so far this season, but Spring has simply flown by. For a while, winter felt like it would never let go, with cold temps holding through April and into May. I hesitated to announce a start date, because I feared that may of the crops were going in much later than I'd have liked. But the last few weeks have kicked everything into gear, and now you can almost hear the plants growing as you walk the rows.
As usual, the farmshare will begin heavy with early season greens. As of today, it looks like Radishes, Kale, Romaine, Butterhead lettuce, Pac Choi, Italian Dandelion Greens, and a mix of herbs. But the garden is full of variety already, with more yet to plant. The hoophouse tomatoes are off to an excellent start, and we're looking forward to lots of different veggies, including peppers, cucumbers, Asian greens, summer squash, kohlrabi, beets and beans.
I will be reaching out to each of you individually, today and tomorrow, to make sure we're on the same page for pickup dates and details, but plan on grabbing your share at the Sand Lake Merchant in Averill Park, as ordered, on Wednesday or Friday. If you have any questions, feel free to call or text (518-817-5135) any time. And, if you are on social media, give us a follow at @SollohubFamilyFarm - it's easy for me to share quick photos and updates there, and might give you a better idea of what to expect each week.
Thanks again for your support - it's going to be a great Summer!
-Mark
