2024 Farm Share Kick-Off

Greetings, Locavores!,

We've been busy in the gardens and fields, getting ready for Farm Share 2024, and are happy to report that our first harvest should be right on target.

It has been an interesting Spring, with some extremely variable weather. Storms, power outages, lingering cold and plenty of rain have finally yielded to some beautiful bluebird days, and the early veggies are are looking good. With many thanks to Dawn and Jim Paulson of Out of the Ordinary Nursery, the beds are flush with different varieties of Asian greens, onions, potatoes, kale, tomatoes, peppers, beets, radishes, lettuce, squash and everything else we can think of. If you liked the variety of goods you received last year, then this year might just knock your socks off. :)

For folks who have already secured a farm share, here's what you can expect:

We will be in touch over the next week to confirm your start date. If you purchased a full share, you can anticipate a weekly collection of homegrown goods beginning on Wednesday 6/12 or Friday 6/14, depending on what pick-up day you selected. If you got a "half" share (every other week) you'll be split into one of two groups, that will kick off either on the dates above, or the following week - 6/19 or 6/21. All shares will be ready for pick-up at the Sand Lake Merchant, in Averill Park, during their regular business hours. Early season shares are expected to be comprised mainly of cool-season crops, like greens and herbs, and things should become more interesting as the season heats up, with cucumbers, tomatoes and the like.

We'd also like all of our customers to feel welcome at the farm. We have a growing little herd of Hereford cows, with a couple of new calves, and we're pretty proud of the gardens too. If you'd like to come by and take a walk around, we'd be happy to see you. Please just email, call or text to make sure someone will be here to greet you beforehand.

Finally, while the Wednesday pick-up groups are sold out, there are still a few spots available on Fridays, if you or someone you know would benefit from tasty fresh vegetables this season. You can sign up here, or as always, feel free to reach out with any questions.

See you soon!
