Week 2: Share Items and Pickup Time Change

It was great seeing some of you Sunday morning, and thanks to all who've shared feedback! We will work to incorporate your preferences as best as we can going forward.

Please remember to return your empty baskets, and egg cartons (if you still have them) so that we can keep them in rotation.

For week 2, your share is sure to include lettuce, kale, swiss chard, mixed greens (a bit more spicy than last week), flat leaf parsley, radishes and scallions. A couple of additional surprises may be included, but the next few days will determine exactly what is ready in time for delivery.

Week 2 protein will be a fresh broiler chicken. The chickens have been out on pasture for several weeks now, and should make for a nice family meal. .... We are super proud of our chicken. We start with regionally sourced chicks from NEPPA hatchery in Fort Plain, NY and get them out on grass as soon as they've feathered out and can handle the elements. They are kept in 'chicken tractors,' or movable pens, which protect them from predators but allow them to be moved daily to fresh ground and fresh forage. Unlike conventional poultry, which never sees the light of day, our birds enjoy fresh air, natural forage and are fed locally sourced grain. We are talking about clean, healthful food, and we hope you will enjoy it as much as we do!

Going forward we will have some eggs available at $5.00/doz. Our laying hens are also kept out on grass, and lay large eggs that are fresher than what you can get in the supermarket. If you'd like to add eggs to your share, you can grab them off our strorefront here on the site, or text/email me and I'll be sure to set them aside for you. Eggs go quickly, so please let me know ASAP if you're interested.

Additionally, our recent CSA pork processing included many cuts which won't work as part of a weekly delivery due to size, number of cuts, etc. So we're offering these up as well, in case you are looking to do some serious BBQ'ing this summer, or just want some damn pork chops. Available cuts include: smoked bacon ($12/lb), pork chops ($9/lb), pork butt ($7/lb), shoulder roast ($7/lb), and smoked ham ($9/lb). Just let me know what you're looking for, and i'll add it to your share.

Finally, it looks like a 1-hour window should suffice for pick-up, so we will be at Mike's house on Sunday from 8am-9am this Sunday. Again, if you foresee any issues, let us know and we'll try to accomodate. Thank you as always for your support, and see you soon!
